How do I send a notification when a new row is added?

You can create a check that monitors a row, column, or range of cells and sends a notification when a new value matches your condition.

For example, if new records are added to your sheet and column A is filled in for each new record, you could create a check on A2:A with the condition Not Empty. When a new row is added and the cell in column A is filled in, Check Sheet can send a notification.

If your sheet is populated by a Google Form, Check Sheet will also evaluate your checks when the linked form is submitted.

Recommended setup

Where possible, add new rows at the bottom of your sheet.

Avoid inserting new rows in the middle of data that Check Sheet is already monitoring, because this can shift existing rows and may cause duplicate notifications. You can read more about this in Why were notifications sent after I added or deleted rows?.

If you want the newest rows to appear first, add new rows at the bottom and use a Google Sheets filter view to display the data in the order you need.

Sending the notification to someone listed in the row

If the email address or webhook URL you want to notify is stored in the same row, use a dynamic notification target.

For example, if your check monitors A2:A and the email address to notify is in column B, you can set the notification target to =B2:B.
